Qigong is the art of training your awareness and intent to promote internal harmony. Much like physical training keeps your muscles strong, qigong keeps your body’s channels clear, nourished, and resilient. Whether through fluid, continuous movement or the deep stillness of meditation, these practices empower you to take an active role in your health, maintaining progress made in the clinic and preventing future disharmony.
Rivers of Tradition
Classes will center around one of two qigong sets that offer distinct benefits for the body (private instruction may draw from other sets as well):
Hunyuan Gong - Nourishment: Teaches you to harmonize with your surroundings and increases your internal capacity for storing qi.
Chansi Gong - Integration: Known as Silk-Reeling, this practice opens the 18 major pivots of the body, cultivating fluid, spiraling energy and body awareness.
Private Instruction
Location: Open Flow Acupuncture Clinic
Private instruction is ideal for those seeking a highly tailored approach to their practice. In these one-on-one sessions, we focus on the specific needs relevant to your unique condition.
Tailored: Each session is designed to complement your current acupuncture treatment plan or personal health goals.
Refinement & Correction: Receive immediate, individualized adjustments to your posture and intent to optimize learning.
Group Classes
Location: Open Flow Acupuncture Clinic
Group classes offer the unique benefit of "Communal Qi", the field effect of practicing in a room full of people cultivating together. While Qigong is an internal art, the community connection found in a group setting creates a supportive environment that is both engaging and nourishing.
Synergy of Practice: There is a distinct, palpable feeling that occurs when a group moves and breathes together, often leading to a deeper state of flow than practicing alone.
Community Connection: Connect with like-minded individuals in a relaxed, non-clinical environment. We enter as individuals and leave as part of a shared experience.
Movement & Stillness
In our sessions, we utilize two primary skills to achieve the goals of practice:
Stillness Skills: Standing, sitting, or lying down meditation that allows the mind and body to naturally settle and the qi to accumulate.
Moving Skills: Smooth, rhythmic motions that soften the body, open the joints, and allow qi and blood to circulate freely.
Come As You Are
You do not need any special clothing or gear to practice qigong, though comfortable, loose-fitting clothes are ideal as they allow for ease of movement.
